FDA Silenced Internal Whistleblower
Dr. Ana Szarfman, an FDA safety data expert, warned in March 2021 that the agency’s monitoring system was hiding vaccine safety signals through a flaw called masking. She proposed a corrected method that detected 49 examples of extreme masking involving serious adverse events like sudden cardiac death, pulmonary infarction, and cerebral artery occlusion. FDA leadership ordered her to stop her analysis and focus on assigned work instead.
By September 2021, Dr. Peter Marks, the FDA’s top vaccine official, directed Dr. Szarfman to cease all COVID vaccine data mining. Internal emails reveal Marks complained her work had become a major distraction that could create conflicts feeding into anti-vaccination rhetoric.
